Wearable Cardioverter Defibrillator: A Lifesaving Technology for Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention
The Wearable Cardioverter Defibrillator (WCD) has emerged as a revolutionary device for preventing sudden cardiac death (SCD) in high-risk patients. Unlike implanted defibrillators, a WCD offers non-invasive cardiac monitoring and automatic defibrillation when life-threatening arrhythmias are detected.
The system consists of a lightweight vest equipped with sensors and electrodes connected to a small monitor.
